Area Councils are an effort to bring community and business leaders together to identify opportunities and challenges unique to specific areas in the Greater Walton Region. The Councils’ mission is to develop grass roots outreach that serves to foster business development, prioritize and bring the business needs of the area into focus and remain on the pulse of current issues that affect the community.
Area Council members serve as community stewards and promote augmentation in their respective areas by actively addressing critical issues that have potential impact on local businesses and organizations. The Councils have extended their arms and supported causes such as Take Stock in Children; and Children’s Volunteer Health Network (CVHN) as well as raised funds for the Chamber Foundation during the Annual Celebrity Waiter Dinner. In addition, the Councils host legislative receptions and quarterly networking events that bring the community at large together for an opportunity to express specific concerns and challenges through systematic networking.
The Coastal Area Council works diligently to identify programs and organizations within the Walton County School District to develop relationships and partner with as a means of assisting students in need of mentors and financial support for college. The Council also strives to provide a common voice in promoting the economic, cultural and social well-being of the business community in southern region of the County.
The DeFuniak Springs Area Council involves local businesses by exposing them to the Chamber’s vision to guide the Power of Business and Strengthen the Community. The Council also collaborates with local non-profit organizations to enhance the quality of place in the City of DeFuniak Springs.
The Freeport Area Council serves as a catalyst in the City of Freeport, volunteering time and resources to support retention efforts and strengthening existing relationships by serving as a communication link between chamber members and staff. The Council facilitates the need to address critical issues such as education, attainable housing and the expansion of Hwy 331.
